Message
The objective of this project is not to create finished bamboo products but rather to verify the as yet unrecognized design OS potential latent in Southeast Asia and in bamboo. It is perhaps going to be traditional craft technology, like the weaving of a bamboo basket, that will sparkle in the twenty-first century. The twentieth century certainly achieved wonderful development, but at the same time that development placed too much of a load on our planet and on humankind. What is required most of all now, I believe, is design that changes our attitude to life, which until now has been swept along by that economic foundation, and design that contributes to our reflection on the civilization embracing that attitude and promotes a revision of our view of life.
