「権鎮圭彫刻展」

■会期：2009年10月19日（月）~12月5日（土）

■会場：美術資料図書館　展示室
■企画趣旨概要：
韓国近代彫刻の先覚者として高く評価されている権鎮圭（クォン・ジンギュ、1922～1973）の回顧展を、東京国立近代美術館（2階ギャラリー4）と武蔵野美術大学資料図書館の2会場で同時に開催いたします。
権鎮圭は、1950年代に武蔵野美術大学の前身である武蔵野美術学校で学び、二科展で受賞するなど、日本の彫刻界と非常に関係の深い作家ですが、リアリズムを基調としつつ孤高の精神性をたたえたその作品は、残念ながら、日本ではまだほとんど知られていません。本展は、権鎮圭の彫刻の全貌を紹介する初めての機会です。

　13年間にわたり韓国で制作された作品のうち、東京国立近代美術館所蔵品とその周辺作品を
　中心に展示。
　●会期：10月10日（土）～12月6日（日）

・韓国国立現代美術館徳寿宮美術館
　日本で展示した全出品作を帰国展として開催。
　●会期：2009年12月21日（月）～2010年2月28日（日）

Kwon Jin-kyu Sculpture Exhibition
This retrospective exhibition of the works of Kwon Jin-kyu (1922-73), highly acclaimed as the pioneer of modern Korean sculpture, will be held simultaneously at two venues, the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and Musashino Art University.
     Kwong had extremely deep connections with Japanese sculpture circles. He studied at Musashino Art School, the predecessor of Musashino Art University, in the 1950s and, among other things, received an award at the Nika Exhibition. Unfortunately, though, his works, which have been praised for their underlying realism accompanied by a noble spirituality, are almost unknown in Japan. This exhibition will be the first opportunity to introduce Kwon's sculpture in its entirety.
